Saigon guitars

Yesterday I odered 3 Bass guitars from Đuc Ngân. First step :-) Also found a really good maker. When I first went in his shop he was quiet, didn’t respond much and I couldn’t tell if he was happyy to have me there demanding to play all his best instruments, carefully testing and tuning them and inspecting them minutely. I eventualy chose a beautiful simple slimline 6 string. It was a little more expensive than a similar but much more striking one that somehow didn’t have the same magic. Once I had decided to buy it his maner changed completely. I hadn’t realised he even spoke english till that point. He starrted telling me about ways to test the quality of guitars and how he strove to get a nice low action and how he scaloped the bracing to get the best tone. He obviously loves making good instruments and was maybe testing me. Guess I passed by picking one of his best instuments…
