Hurdy Gurdy
Bought plans from Nic Nourse for Marchand 1775 model. Started some time in September 06. No real problems so far building the body. Paid £60 to get the shaft, bearings, wheel bush and handle made (Handle shank is just a rectangular piece of brass. I will fret out the nice scroll shape myself). Got the job done by an engineering works on the industrial estate at the South end of the Newburn Bridge. There may be problems when it comes to fitting the shaft as the diameter of the shaft is not much smaller than the outer threaded bearing. The hole in the end of the body will need to be exactly the right size to allow clearance for the shaft but still take a thread.
